Civil Rights Architect Bernard LaFayette Dies at 85

Civil rights leader Bernard LaFayette, who did the risky groundwork for the Selma voting rights campaign that led to the 1965 Voting Rights Act, has died at 85. He was a key strategist and lifelong advocate for nonviolent protest.
