More than 1,000 pilgrims have died during this year's Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia as temperatures reached 51.8C in Mecca. Around 1.8 million Muslims participated in the outdoor pilgrimage, with reports of 1,081 deaths across different nationalities, highlighting the challenges of crowd control and safety.
