France heat wave kills 1,000 in three days

France recorded 1,000 additional deaths during its record heat wave, with temperatures reaching 41.5°C in Germany. Wildfires and infrastructure damage occurred across Europe. Scientists attribute the extreme heat to climate change, noting it is now 200 times more likely than 20 years ago.
