Two Chinese mathematicians, Hong Wang and Yu Deng, won the Fields Medal for solving century-old problems. Wang resolved the 3D Kakeya conjecture, and Deng tackled Hilbert’s Sixth Problem. China is the fifth country and first in Asia to produce two winners at one ceremony.
