Bernice Johnson Reagon, a prominent US civil rights activist and singer, passed away at 81. She used her voice and lyrics to combat racism, was a scholar, and part of the civil rights movement. Reagon was a member of the SNCC Freedom Singers and founded Sweet Honey in the Rock.
