French filmmaker guilty of sexually assaulting actor in landmark trial

French filmmaker Christophe Ruggia was found guilty of sexually assaulting French actor Adèle Haenel when she was between 12 and 15 in the early 2000s, marking France’s first significant trial. Ruggia received a two-year house arrest sentence. Haenel, now 35, accused Ruggia of inappropriate touching during the filming of “The Devils.”
